Here are the 9 Steps to change your system over to The RBBS-PC Network!
1. Modification of your Binkley.CFG File.
-- Look through the this weeks Node List to find your New
RBBS-Net Node Number. If your not in there -- send a
NetMail Message with the required information (which
can be found in the RBBS-NET.DOC File) to Rod Bowman
on his RBBS-PC System at (714) 381-6013 and I will
to take of this problem for you.
-- Once you have your new Node Number for RBBS-Net you
can change your Binkley.CFG File to this new number by
changing your Boss and Point to this Node Number. Be
sure to change your AKA Statements to know your other
Node Numbers -- FidoNet, AlterNet, and if you are a
Net or Hub Coordinator be sure to put in an AKA
Statement for your Administrive Node Number also.
-- Remember, anytime that you change your Binkley.CFG File
that you have to run the BTCTL Program again in order
for BinkleyTerm to pick up the new information in the
Binkley Control and Mail.SYS Files.
2. Modification of your Config.DOG File.
-- Change your Config.DOG File to represent your RBBS-Net
Node Number and change your AKA Statement to your
FidoNet Node Number.
3. Modification of your OMMM.CTL File.
-- Change your ARCCM/Poll/ARCHold or whatever you have
set-up to point to the proper persons Node Number. If
you are polling me ... Your mail should be going to
Node #8/1. If you have any questions about this ... I
I always here to help on this.
4. Modification of your AREAS.BBS File.
-- This might be your hardest file to get right ... but it
is really not hard onces you understand what is used for.
This is the file that ConfMail reads to send your mail
out (or at least at this point ... it is what we are most
concerned about). The Node Number in here is the number
that you send mail to. Again, if it is myself, the Node
Number for me is 8/8.
-- With the creation of The RBBS-PC Network, we are starting
three new EchoMail Conferences that are required for access
to RBBS-Net.
The first one is RBBS_Dev. This is a PRIVATE SysOp Only
EchoMail Conference. It will be used for the Development
of the RBBS-PC Network.
You will need to add this to your AREAS.BBS File. RBBS_DEV
The second one is RBBS-Net. This is a PRIVATE Conference
and is only open to all Net Managers. This will help The
Network Administration get information about The RBBS-PC
Network out to all of the Nets in the Network.
You will need to add this to your AREAS.BBS File. RBBS-Net
The third one is RBBS-SysOp. This is a PUBLIC Conference
and is open to all users. This will be RBBS-Net's SysOp
Conference.
You will need to add this to your AREAS.BBS File. RBBS-SysOp
5. Modification of your AREAS.NET File.
-- You need to make the three new EchoMail Conferences available
to the NetMail Program. Add RBBS-SysOp as a PUBLIC EchoMail
Conference and add RBBS-Net and RBBS_Dev as a SysOp ONLY
EchoMail Conference to your AREAS.NET File.
6. Modification of your Binkley.BAT File.
-- Also, with the two new EchoMail Conferences that we added
you need to add them to your NightMail Processing so that
old messages will be purged on automatic basis.
7. Create the three SubDirectories for the new EchoMail Conferences.
-- Now create the two sub-directories for the EchoMail Messages
to be stored.
MD C:\MAIL\RBBS_DEV
MD C:\MAIL\RBBS-NET
MD C:\MAIL\RBBS-SYS
8. Modification of your XLATLIST.CTL File.
-- Add a new PUBLIST Statement to your XLATLIST.CTL File so
that when you compile your Node Lists you will be able to
access the system of The RBBS-PC Network.
PUBLIST RBBSList RBBSDiff
9. Compile the Node List with your New RBBS-Net Node List.
-- Put your RBBSLIST.xxx Node List (the first release was:
RBBSLIST.163) into the proper subdirectory ( \Binkley )
and run your Batch File that Compiles the Node List for
you (Xlat.BAT)
That should be everything. If you have any problems or if you have any
questions -- please let me know -- I will help where I can.
Enjoy and thanks for your support of The RBBS-PC Network (RBBS-Net).
